It is interesting that the first movie (in this case film) that i will talk about is a Nollywood movie. Believe me, this may not happen again.
The Return of Jennifer (ROJ) successfully tried to start from where the last one stopped (i seriously hope there will not be a 4th one, talk about an over-kill of a good idea). Among other things, being a comdey, the film tried to invoke hysterical laughter which it got in no small amount even from a cynic like me.
So what i hated (1) the Adverts; while i didn't mind them subtly making reference to brands and products i got frustrated when the movie was abandoned to advertise GLO (2) There was not real story line. ROJ is just a collection of short comical skits.
What i liked (1) Funke Akindele really out did herself on this one, she is funny and very convincing as an educated illiterate, she was able to revamp the character with new comic materials and her comic timing is almost perfect. (2) The musicians featured in the movie did not try to act (3) it mentioned AIDS (4) It was obvious that more money was spent on this one (with all the product endorsements) therefore they threw real parties, wore nice clothes and the extras were all convincing.
So if you want to laugh stupid and don't mind your IQ being trampled on , go see it and add to the increasing wealth of Funke Akindele.
